Educational Programs
The “Orizontas” Association implements educational programs in Kindergartens, Primary Schools, Middle Schools, and High Schools, aiming to raise awareness among students in Primary and Secondary Education and help them acquire the values, knowledge, and skills necessary to adopt attitudes that promote and protect their mental, physical, and social well-being, embrace diversity and equal rights, and cultivate the spirit of volunteerism. The educational programs of “Orizontas” are based on the three pillars of information, awareness, and action, and are aligned with the Ministry of Education’s “Skills Workshops” and “Active Citizenship Actions.” The programs we offer are the following:
“Journey to the Land of Sadness”
An interactive storytelling program with empathy as its main objective, accompanied by a creative workshop featuring students’ artwork. (For Kindergarten and 1st–2nd Grade Primary School students)
“Eftychis Travels”
An educational program approved by the Ministry of Education. It aims to strengthen the connection between school and society while empowering students on a personal level. The program familiarizes children with life events, helping them develop resilience and coping mechanisms for future challenges while discovering optimism, solidarity, and selfless giving. It is based on the children’s book “Eftychis and the Rainbow” by author Evdokia Skordala-Kakatsaki and was designed by educator Christina Tzompanaki. (For Kindergarten and 1st–2nd Grade Primary School students)
“Reading for Awareness”
Promoting the values of volunteerism, empathy, and social contribution through the reading of carefully selected books, combined with a creative workshop showcasing students’ artistic work. (For 3rd–4th Grade Primary School students)
“Learning About Volunteerism” – “Sports & Volunteerism”
An interactive program designed to raise students’ awareness of volunteerism. Participants become familiar with the work of “Orizontas,” the organization of sporting events, and the participation of its volunteers in athletic activities under the Association’s colors, promoting the message: “Racing for Life.” (For 5th–6th Grade Primary School students, 1st–3rd Grade Middle School students, and 1st–2nd Grade High School students)
“Become a Bone Marrow Donor”
A program that raises awareness about volunteerism while informing students about the importance of bone marrow donation, the registration process for becoming a volunteer donor, and the stem cell donation procedure. (For 3rd Grade High School students)
Additional Activities for School Communities
“Solidarity Creations”
A creative workshop and school bazaar where students create artistic works to support volunteer initiatives and promote solidarity through their school’s fundraising events. (For Primary School students)
“Bone Marrow Donation Awareness Campaign”
One-day awareness events focusing on the importance of bone marrow donation and the registration of volunteer donors. These activities are intended for Teachers’ Associations and Parents’ & Guardians’ Associations.
The programs are delivered by Archontissa Anastasaki–Marketaki (Educator), Maria Varouxaki (Nurse), Argyro Drakaki (Social Worker), Chrysoula Kazakou (English Language Teacher), and Evangelia Markaki (Educator).
Participation by schools is voluntary and free of charge for all students.
