RUN FOR LIFE
Orizontas Association, in the context of its ongoing contribution to children and adults suffering from cancer or other serious illnesses, is undertaking a new, substantial initiative with a deeply humanitarian purpose.
Currently, our Association has set as its goal the raising funds for the purchase of a transplant storage tank for the Hematology Clinic of the University Hospital of Heraklion.
This specific purchase will contribute decisively to upgrading the process of graft collection and storage, enhancing the effectiveness of autologous transplants in patients with lymphoma and other hematological malignancies, for which autologous transplantation is the only way to treat. This is an life investment, which will offer hundreds of patients a second chance at life.
At the center of this action is Michalis Chrysocherakis, secretary of the Board of Directors of “Orizont” and founding member of the Association’s sports club.
With a rich volunteer and athletic career — 35 Marathons around the world, over 60 Half Marathons and dozens of road races with the colors of “Orizont” and the slogan “RACE FOR LIFE” — Michalis will run on November 2, 2025 in the New York Marathon, covering all his expenses himself and dedicating his participation to raising money for the above purpose.
This effort, a personal dream that turns into a collective mission, is a call to all of us to help in a life’s work.
We invite you to support this effort by contributing your own financial support to cover the cost of purchasing the tank. Every contribution, small or large, is a valuable step closer to the goal —
to ensure that patients in Crete and all of Greece have the best possible care and hope for life.
