Who we are?

The Association of Voluntary Contribution and Support “Orizontas” was founded in 2004 (no. 210/2004 decision of the Court of First Instance of Chania), it is a non-profit association, which operates in the context of volunteerism and is not subsidized by a state body, but is consistently supported by the Municipality of Chania. It relies exclusively on the strength and trust of society and volunteers.

Actions

  • Economic, material and moral support for patients suffering from cancer
  • Hospitality for patients and their escorts in “Orizondas” guest houses in Athens
  • An alopecia cooling system donation for patients undergoing chemotherapy at “Agios Georgios” General Hospital of Chania
  • Recording of prospective volunteers of bone marrow donors
  • Informing the public about donating umbilical stem cells
  • Hair donation collection
  • Organizing events (cultural, informative, sports) and educational programs

Purpose

To support children and adults suffering from cancer.

Objectives

  • Provide the best possible support and relief to a greater number of patients
  • Create a palliative and supportive care hospice in Chania for terminally ill patients
  • Increase the number of registered volunteer bone marrow donor candidates
  • Purchase an Autologous Transplant Preservation Tank for the Hematology Clinic of the University Hospital of Heraklion
